Pastoral Associate:
I'm Angela Stark, my role in Kennington Catholic Parish is one of two Pastoral Associates, directly responsible and working closely with Fr Joe.
The ministry of pastoral associate is comprehensive, relating to all aspects of parish life. The responsibilities of the pastoral associate are many & varied, dependent upon the needs of the parish and the gifts of the pastoral associate as well as the gifts of the other parish staff.
My primary responsibilities include: co-ordinate RCIA, plan rituals and visit parishioners.
As pastoral associate I attend meetings i.e. Deanery, Parish Pastoral Council and Ecumenical activities.
At times I am required to lead communal prayer services, including vigils and ecumenical celebrations. On occasion I have been privileged to assist families plan the funeral of a loved one. In our parish the pastoral associate along with other parishioners co-ordinates the RCIA program – a most enjoyable and rewarding aspect of this ministry. I am required to be a visible participant at weekend masses and parish events.
Pastoral Associate is a varied role, one which I pray I am fulfilling in a capable manner.
